Manafort turns himself in
Paul Manafort, the former chairman for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, turned himself in to the Justice Department on Monday, according to CNN.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller asked both Manafort and former Trump campaign official Rick Gates to turn themselves in, CNN reported.
Manafort’s indictment first came on Friday, CNN reported. He and Gates worked together in the mid-2000s.
The charges were originally sealed on Friday. They were unveiled on Monday, showing charges including conspiracy and money laundering.

SLC buys ‘blighted’ motel
The Salt Lake City Council voted to spend $4 million to buy a “blighted” motel near the North Temple area with hopes of developing the property, according to the Deseret News.
Originally, the council was asked to loan that money to Western Region Nonprofit Housing Corp., a company that planned to develop the property into an affordable housing location.
Now, the city has decided to buy the property and put it up for bid.
Officials told the Deseret News that the development will still happen, but it may not occur until 2021.
“We’re really back to square one on this project,” said Matthew Rojas, spokesman for Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski.

Spain calls Catalan independence move a rebellion
Spain’s chief prosecutor said Catalan leaders should be charged with rebellion for the region’s recent vote on independence, according to BBC.
Jose Manuel Maza said those charges might also include sedition and provocation. The charges would be considered by a judge before any Catalan leaders are formally charged, according to BBC.
The move comes as Spain hopes to take back control of Catalonia.
Catalans have also tried to resume their daily lives since the country first called for independence from Spain, Reuters reported.
Secessionist politicians have called for civil disobedience, though, from those living in Catalonia.

BYU finally snaps losing streak
Brigham Young University earned its second win of the season over the weekend, snapping a seven-game losing streak, the Deseret News reported.
BYU defeated San Jose State, 41-20, on Saturday in Provo.
The Cougars await a matchup with Fresno State this weekend. The Bulldogs recently lost to UNLV, 26-16, at home.
BYU hopes it can carry the momentum into Saturday’s game.
“Definitely getting this win feels really great and I know it does for the coaches and for us players to finally get a win and get going from there,” BYU defensive lineman Sione Takitaki told the Deseret News. “We have Fresno next week so we’re not going to hang our hats on this one.”
