There are just two weeks left in the regular season for high school football teams to clinch postseason berths.
Lumen Christi’s offense has scored 21 points or more in 18 straight games, so many believe its offense is what leads the team. In reality, it’s the defense that runs the show at Lumen Christi and Friday was more proof of exactly that. The Titans have held five of their seven opponents to 14 points or fewer and surrender just 11.9 points per game.
The latest impressive performance was holding a Western team that averaged 35.2 points per game to just 14 and contain the best quarterback in the area in Steele Fortress to just 102 passing yards.
The Titans defense historically gets better as the season progresses – remember they gave up just nine points per game on average in the state quarterfinals, semifinals and finals last season – and it appears right now it’s finding its stride.
