“It’s not that we’re getting out of the deal. We’re just trying to make the situation better,” Haley said.
United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley on Sunday affirmed that the U. S. will remain in the Iran nuclear deal — despite President Trump’s constant complaining about it.
“I think right now you are going to see us stay in the deal,” Haley told NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”
“I think right now, we’re in the deal to see how we can make it better. And that’s the goal. It’s not that we’re getting out of the deal. We’re just trying to make the situation better so that the American people feel safer.”
Haley said Trump’s face-off with North Korea — which has been building nuclear weapons and threatening the U. S. with mass destruction — is a reason the administration wants a stronger deal with Iran.
“What we’re saying now with Iran is: Don’t let it become the next North Korea,” she said, citing 25 years of “botched agreements” between the U.
