Mayor de Blasio, after ripping into accused sexual predator Harvey Weinstein, offered a milder rebuke Friday to comedian and campaign fund-raiser Louis C. K.
The stand-up comic issued a wide-ranging apology Friday for his inappropriate sexual behavior with five women, eliciting a tepid City Hall response.

“I think there’s a problem in our society with powerful, well-connected men getting away with too much,” he said at a BuzzFeed forum.

In May 2016, Louis C. K. hosted a $250-a-ticket Brooklyn Bowl fund-raiser for the mayor’s birthday.

“Hey Bill: Your call really made my day so thank you,” C. K. wrote.
“It’s funny that I told you how apolitical I am and then yesterday stepped in the biggest political s— pile in history.”

In addition to the fund-raiser, Louis C. K. also appeared in a skit with de Blasio at the annual Inner Circle charity show in 2015, and de Blasio appeared as himself on an episode of the comic’s show “Horace and Pete” last year.
