Many users of iPhones and iPads which recently updated to iOS 11.1 are unable to type the letter “i”. Attempting to do so automatically replaces “i” with either “A” or a question mark.
Following the system update iOS 11.1 that was rolled out at the end of October, some iPhone and iPad users have been experiencing an auto-correcting issue affecting their ability to type the letter “i”.
When users attempt to type the letter “i” it is either replaced with an “A” or a question mark in a box. Apple has left the following advice as a temporary fix to the problem before it can be fully rectified in a future system update.
The problem has not affected all iOS 11.1 users but enough of them have posted their problem to an online forum on Apple’s website. However, considering the price of some of Apple’s products the fact that users are unable to type what is ultimately a rather crucial letter in common communication is probably beyond frustrating.
