Panasonic today launched the successor to Eluga I4, a smartphone that was launched in September this year. The new Eluga I5 features a few noteworthy upgrades over the Eluga I4 but is still priced lower, making it a more sensible buy. It features a metal body with rounded corners and a fingerprint sensor positioned at the back of the device.
The Panasonic Eluga I5 sports a 5-inch LCD display with 2.5D curved Asahi Dragon Trail Glass and 720 x 1280 HD resolution. Under the hood, the Eluga I5 runs on the same MediaTek MT6737 64-bit quad-core 1.25 GHz processor as the Eluga I4. Taking care of the graphics is a Mali-T720 GPU. Moving on to memory, the new entry-level smartphone from Panasonic comes equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. What we find disappointing is that the company has chosen to equip the smartphone with Hybrid Dual SIM slots, which means you will not be able to add a microSD card if you use two SIM cards.
In the camera department, Eluga I5 is definitely superior to the Eluga I4. Instead of an 8MP snapper, the Eluga I5 features a 13MP camera at the back, with an LED flash. For taking selfies, you get a 5MP snapper on the front. Connectivity features offered by the handset include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. Battery capacity has sadly gone down to 2500mAh from 3000mAh on the Eluga I4. In terms of physical size, the smartphone measures 143 x 71 x 7.5mm and weighs in at 145.5 grams. Like most recent entry-level Android smartphones, the Panasonic Eluga I5 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box.
The Panasonic Eluga I5 has been priced at Rs.6,499 and will be available exclusively from Flipkart in Black and Gold colors.
