Samsung today launched two new wearables in India – the Gear Fit2 Pro fitness tracker and Gear Sport smartwatch. Both the wearables were unveiled by Samsung at IFA 2017 in Berlin.
The Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is a swim-proof fitness tracker with a 1.5-inch curved Super AMOLED display and inbuilt GPS. It is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz, paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage. List of onboard sensors include a heart-rate monitor, GPS, barometer, gyroscope, and an accelerometer. The Gear Fit2 Pro packs a 200mAh battery inside, claimed to deliver between 3 to 4 days of usage. It features 5 ATM water resistance as well as MIL-STD 810G compliance. In addition to all fitness tracking features, the Gear Fit2 Pro supports audio playback as well. You can listen to music via Wi-Fi or play your favorite playlist on the go when offline. The fitness tracker runs on Samsung’s Tizen OS and is compatible with Android 4.4+ and iOS 9.0+ devices.
The Samsung Gear Sport features a 1.2-inch 360 x 360 circular Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and Always-on Display feature. Like the Gear Fit2 Pro, the Gear Sport is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz, although it does come equipped with higher 768MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Connectivity wise, the Gear Sport supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy. Sensors onboard the smartwatch include a heart-rate monitor, barometer, Gyro sensor, ambient light sensor, and an accelerometer. The battery inside is a 300mAh unit, offering support for wireless charging. Rest of the highlights include 5 ATM water resistance and MIL STG 810G certification. The smartwatch runs on the Tizen OS and is compatible with Android smartphones running version 4.4+ and iPhone 5 or later iPhone models running iOS 9.0+.
The Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro has been priced at Rs.13,590 in India and comes in Black and Red color options. It will be sold exclusively by Flipkart. The Samsung Gear Sport smartwatch, on the other hand, will be an Amazon-exclusive in India. Priced at Rs.22,990, the Gear Sport will be available in Black and Blue colors. Both of them will go on sale starting December 11 th. Pre-bookings are set to open on December 4 th.
