Fayetteville, N. C. — A 17-year-old Florida girl believed to be on the run with a high school soccer coach was seen Sunday in Fayetteville, according to Florida authorities.
Fayetteville police referred all questions to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, which has issued a missing child alert for Caitlyn Frisina. According to NBC’s affiliate in Jacksonville, Fla., the teen left her home on her own and left her phone after erasing all data.
Authorities said Frisina is with 27-year-old Rian Rodriguez in a red Mercury Sable with Florida tag Z04CSC.
Rodriguez was a coach for the boys’ soccer team at Fort White High School in Fort White, Fla. He had been on suspension amid an investigation but was fired Tuesday for being absent without leave.
Before being spotted in Fayetteville, she was seen withdrawing money from an ATM at a Pilot station in St. Marys, Ga., authorities said.
Authorities believe the two are still heading north – Frisina has family in New York, and Rodriguez could possibly have family in Canada and Pennsylvania.
Frisina is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 135 pounds with brown hair. She sometimes wears her hair up with a headband.
