Western Michigan football finishes regular season 6-6 after loss to Toledo

Following 37-10 defeat, Broncos now wait to see if they will receive an invitation to play in a bowl game
TOLEDO – Western Michigan was held to a season-low 95 rushing yards as Toledo defeated the Broncos, 37-10, on Friday to earn the Mid-American Conference West Division title.
WMU finishes the regular season at 6-6, as it now waits to see if it will receive an invitation to participate in a bowl game for the fourth consecutive season. In 2016, a record 20 teams with non-winning records were among the 80 FBS schools to participate in a bowl game, including 17 teams that ended the regular season with a 6-6 record.
Toledo (10-2) earned a spot in the MAC championship on Dec. 2 at Ford Field in Detroit, where the Rockets will face East Division champion Akron.
WMU freshman quarterback Reece Goddard finished 13 of 19 passing for 180 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions, while adding 38 rushing yards on 10 attempts. Senior running back Jarvion Franklin totaled a team-high 58 rushing yards on 15 carries, while freshman wideout Tyron Arnett made a season-high six receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown. Freshman kicker Josh Grant booted a 24-yard field goal.
Defensively for the Broncos, senior linebacker Asantay Brown racked up a career-high 22 tackles; senior linebacker Robert Spillane had 10 tackles; sophomore defensive end Antonio Balabani recorded a sack and redshirt sophomore cornerback Obbie Jackson had an interception.
The Rockets were led by senior quarterback Logan Woodside, who finished 19 of 29 passing for 300 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
