Latina superstar Thalía Sodi, who was the “Queen of the Telenovelas,” has come full circle and makes her directing debut in “15: A Quinceañera Story.”
The four short films, debuting Dec. 19 on HBO and HBO Latino, follow five girls from different backgrounds as they observe the traditional rite of passage of the quinceañera, a celebration of their 15th birthdays.
One story getting lots of buzz is about Zoey, a Mexican-American living south of LA, who was assigned male at birth and celebrates with her trans-madrinas (godmothers).
The series is executive produced by Thalía’s husband, music mogul Tommy Mottola.
