Oppo has launched the Oppo F5 Youth in India at Rs 16,990.
Oppo has launched the Oppo F5 Youth in India at Rs 16,990. The smartphone, which was released in Philippines a while back comes with an 18:9 display, a 16MP front camera with artificial intelligence features baked in and a bezel-less design. The F5 Youth is set to go on sale in India from December 8 from both offline and online channels.
The Oppo F5 Youth is the younger brother of the recently launched Oppo F5 and comes with a 6-inch LTPS TFT display with a 1080×2160 resolution (FullHD+) and a tall 18:9 aspect ratio. Just like the Oppo F5, the F5 Youth has minimal bezels up front and runs on ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat.
The Oppo F5 Youth is powered by the octa-core MediaTek MT6763T (Helio P23) chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and a 3,200mAh battery. There is 32GB of storage on board which can be expanded via a microSD card (of up to 256GB).

On the imaging front, the F5 Youth comes with a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and an LED flash. The 16MP front camera is the USP of the device. It has an aperture of f/2.0 and has artificial intelligence based beautification features baked in. Basically, the AI enabled selfie camera is intelligent enough to recognise whether there is any background light in the shot and adjusts image settings accordingly. It can also detect a subject’s age, gender and skin tone and adjust photos accordingly.
On the connectivity front, the F5 Youth supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and A-GPS. It has a fingerprint sensor at the rear and comes with a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. Just like the Oppo F5, the F5 Youth also supports facial recognition.
