The crash started after a 19-year-old driver failed to stop at a red light, police said.
Two people were injured Monday when a car struck an east side mechanic shop in a fiery crash.
Police said Justin Lehman, 19, was traveling northbound on E. 29th Street around 9:30 p.m. when he failed to yield for a red light. Lehman was struck by an oncoming vehicle in the intersection of E. 29th Street and Hubbell Avenue.
Lehman’s car left the road and struck Hilltop Fire Service, 2914 Hubbell Ave. His car caught fire following the impact with the building, police said.
Both Lehman and the driver of the other vehicle, 38-year-old Heather Morris, were taken to local hospitals. Police did not have an update on their conditions early Tuesday.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
