An upcoming update for Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 Android ROM will introduce iPhone X-style gestures for navigating the operating system on devices such as the Mi MIX, Mi MIX 2, Redmi 5, and Redmi 5 Plus.
Xiaomi has revealed its plans to introduce «Full Display Gestures» on some of its smartphones in an upcoming update for its MIUI 9 Android ROM.
As per Xiaomi’s official forum, the MIUI Global Beta ROM 7.12.28, which will be rolled out this week, will enable support for gestures on full display phones. The smartphones mentioned by the company include the Mi MIX, Mi MIX 2, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.
The gestures mentioned above are similar to those implemented by Apple on the iPhone X. As these gestures aren’t available natively on Android yet, it will be interesting to see how well they work with the apps and the various workflows on the platform.
