The anti-cheat technology of BattlEye has so far permanently banned more than 1.5 million accounts in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) for cheating, the company announced over the weekend.
The updated figure has seen a mighty increment in the past months. Around 320,000 accounts were said to have been cleansed by October before jumping to more than 700,000 accounts in November and then doubling by the end of the year.
It is a never-ending battle for everyone involved. As sales continue to accelerate further for PUBG, the demand for third-party cheats has also increased. BattlEye has stood strong so far but even it is not that efficient to detect every injected code. There are some cheats from certain creators that manage to fool the anti-cheat system. The only assurance that legitimate players have is that BattlEye will continue to evolve with time for better results.
PUBG has more than 30 million players around the world across both Xbox One and PC. With such a vast player-base, there are bound to be numerous bad eggs. Majority of them particularly hail from South Korea and China, where local gaming cafes give players the freedom to do what they want without any repercussions.
The war against cheaters will now continue into the new year and we can only hope that we see less of these players in every game.
