Saban groused to reporters on Wednesday that it’s difficult to play a bowl game and only have seven days to prepare for the next one.
“Someone has to think about the players,” the 66-year-old Saban said, “and not what’s convenient for the media or TV.”
Saban found fault with the scheduling, noting that he would like to have an extra travel day to make sure his players are rested.
He said by the time the Crimson Tide departed after their 24-6 victory over Clemson in the Sugar Bowl, it was after 1 a.m. in New Orleans. The team made the trek back to Tuscaloosa, which is more than a four-hour drive.
Saban’s charges will travel to Atlanta to get set for face Georgia in the title game on Monday.
