A police officer and three sheriff’s deputies were shot early Tuesday in South Carolina while looking for a domestic violence suspect.

The York County deputies were called to a home at about 10 p.m. Monday, the sheriff’s office told local CBS affiliate WBTV.
But suspect Christian Thomas McCall was gone before the lawmen arrived at the home, located in a northern region of the state.
A foot search led by K-9 units ensued on the outskirts of York, S. C., where they came across McCall at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

He “fired shots” at one of the K-9 handlers, striking him, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken to a hospital in Rock Hill, authorities said.
More law enforcement then joined the search, during which point three more officials — two deputies and a York police officer — were shot by McCall, local news channel WSOC reported .
Two of those wounded were taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N. C., via air, while the third went in an ambulance, according to reports.
McCall was shot during the incident, taken into custody and brought to a nearby hospital, officials said.

“Please pray for the York PD Officer and York County Sheriff’s Deputies who were shot early this morning,” the York Police Department tweeted Tuesday morning.
Neither the condition of the law enforcement officials nor their identities were immediately available.
