HTC 10 is now receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update. The smartphone debuted last year in May and the makers had promised for the Oreo update then. The phone is now finally receiving the much-awaited OS update that bumps the version to 3.16.617.2.
The Oreo update brings slew of updates like Instant apps, Notification dots, PIP mode, Autofill, and more. The update also brings the latest monthly Android Security patch. The update is rolling out in batches as an OTA packages.

User can check the availability of the update. Go to Settings> About>Software updates. You can also manually download the update if you can’t wait for it for long. To manually download the update, Android Police suggests user to download the 1.8GB RUU package from the official HTC site. Please note that this will delete all the data from you device so make sure you have backed up the data.
HTC 10 was launched in April 2016 on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device was updated to Android Nougat in February 2017. HTC also released the Oreo update for HTC 11 in November.
HTC plans to launch limited number of phones this year. Reportedly, the company will kick start with a striped down version of the U11+ in January. The phone is expected to sport a near bezel-less display and could be powered by a Snapdragon 652 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There are reports that the phone could stick with the same 5.99-inch 18:9 display seen in HTC U11+.
HTC could also have a successor to the U11 this year- U12. The phone might launch in May. There are talks that the phone could sport a 4K display, dual camera arrangement, and be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset. Company’s President, Chialin Chang, had also confirmed that HTC will be entering the dual-camera line-up in the year 2018.
