The 25-year-old pop star Selena Gomez’s mother Mandy Teefey finally broke her silence over mother-daughter feud since the singer got back together with her on-again boyfriend Justin Bieber.
The rumors sparked since late 2017 that something has gone wrong between Selena and her mother Mandy after the “Wolves” singer rekindled her romance with “Love Yourself” singer.
Now, Selena’s mother has come forward and explained what’s going on in the family, she also opened up about their past struggles as a family. Mandy told Gossip Cop referring the hard decision for her and her husband Brian Teefey to stop managing Selena in 2004, “Every mother and daughter has disagreements.”
She said, “We never expected to manage her whole life. We lost family time because the only time we saw her, we talked business. It was no longer fun for any of us, like it was when she was younger and we had to be with her because she was a minor.”
Mandy also addressed Selena’s reconnecting bond with Justin, she set the records straight as she clearly said that she is “not happy” that her daughter is seeing Justin again whom she hasn’t spoken with in “years.” She said while discussing Selena’s lupus diagnosis in the light of singer’s enormous workload and her love life.
Mandy said of her pop star daughter, “She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices.”
The proud mother also opened up Selena’s secret kidney transplant she went under over the summer, Mandy called her daughter “brave and fearless. I was so proud of her bravery.” Mandy then added, “Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy.”
