Korean carriers SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus claims that the LG G7 will launch in April. The device is expected to go on sale starting from April 20.
LG’s first flagship for this year is going to be the LG G7 and there’s no doubt about it. However, it is being rumoured that LG could rebrand the G-series handset. The South Korean company is expected to name the handset with a two-digit number and with a different name. Now, the release time frame of the upcoming smartphone has been tipped by Korean carriers. The report states that the country’s top three telecom carriers – SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus – have claimed that the handset will debut in April, with the phone’s production to start in early March. In addition to this, industry sources also assure that the smartphone will make its market appearance on April 20.
Usually, the South Korean brand unveils its G-series flagship smartphones at the MWC expo every year in February and bring them to the market by the end of March. The LG G6 ‘s launch schedule was the same last year: it was launched in February 2017 and was brought to Europe and the US in March 2017. Additionally, an anonymous person from the telecom company has tipped that the device is unlikely to debut at MWC, with the announcement being postponed to mid-March 2018. Considering information from multiple sources, we should not expect any new flagship smartphone from LG to launch at MWC 2018 next month. Instead, we need to look out for the company’s March 2018 event.
As far as the specifications of the smartphone are concerned, the LG G7 might feature an OLED display, similar to that of the LG V30. The handset is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4GB /6GB of RAM. It is also rumoured to use an iris scanner and dual rear-facing cameras. The smartphone’s hallmark feature has not been revealed yet, but we expect to see more benchmarks and certifications in the next few weeks. There’s no doubt that the LG G7 (or whatever the LG G6’s successor is named), it will give a tough fight to the upcoming Galaxy S9 / S9+, Xiaomi Mi 7, and HTC U12 later this year.
