Samsung has a knack of keeping phone launches secret. Well, kind of secret anyway. In keeping with tradition, the company will launch its latest flagship models – the Galaxy S9 and S9+, on Feb 25 prior to the Mobile World Congress. But before the big announcement goes down, images of the new phones have leaked.

According to a VentureBeat article, written by none other than leaker extraordinaire Evan Blass, the new phones will not be significantly different from the previous Galaxy S8 line, featuring mostly component upgrades, such as refreshed imaging hardware and software, as suggested by Samsung’s Unpacked invitation.
The invitation also suggests that Samsung’s focus will be on jacking up the smartphone’s camera, with motion-detected, “super slow-mo” video capture a standout feature, as well as a variable aperture on the 12-megapixel cameras that switches between f/2.4 and f/1.5, allowing for further photographic flexibility.
Shipping is expected to commence on Mar 16, but till Samsung makes an official announcement in February, it’s good to take these rumours with a pinch of salt. The finalised product could still surprise us all, although with the amount of leaks going on these days, getting surprised would be a surprise in itself.
