President Trump traveled to the scenic winter hamlet of Davos and participated in the globalist wonderland known as the World Economic Forum. The first American president to attend the event since Bill Clinton, Trump was amongst his own. The world’s wealthiest and most successful movers and shakers may have been apprehensive of Trump’s appearance but by the time he left, his time there “calmed the room” according to Fred Kempe, president and CEO of the Atlantic Council and former Wall Street Journal reporter. While the crowd didn’t leave “being in love with Donald Trump,” Kempe said, they did leave “feeling that they have to re-examine their current thinking about him as a leader. And that’s about as best as he could have come out of it.”
Most importantly, some leaders who were previously hesitant are now amenable to investing in America. Trump is a salesman who touted the good news of economic growth and tax reform to the world leaders .
The world is witnessing the resurgence of a strong and prosperous America. I’m here to deliver a simple message: there has never been a better time to hire, to build, to invest and to grow in the United States. America is open for business, and we are competitive once again. The American economy is by far the largest in the world, and we’ve just enacted the most significant tax cuts and reform in American history.
Interest in Trump’s speech was high. Reports were that long lines formed more than an hour early with wealthy attendees waiting to get into the venue. Trump was well received and the only report of booing occurred when he criticized the press – from journalists!
Some journalists in the back of the room let out unmistakable ‘boos,’ sources said, while billionaires who came to hear Trump preach his prosperity gospel gasped in astonishment.
Others laughed and applauded. A few directed their booing to the media, according to an eyewitness in the room.
Trump put future financial aid to Palestine into play as he demanded their participation in the peace process, rallied global support in ending the threats from North Korea, smacked China for supporting North Korea, and also tweaked NATO member countries to meet their financial obligations. The presidential candidate who once called NATO “obsolete” now says, “Our common security requires everyone to pay their fair share.”
Not too shabby for a man who was never invited to Davos in all the years he was an American businessman.
