Sony is finally releasing the white PlayStation 4 Pro as a stand-alone product, the company announced today.
The console debuted last September exclusively in a bundle with Destiny 2; the package, which included the game’s Expansion Pass, cost $449.99. When Sony unveiled the bundle in July, the company told Polygon that it had nothing to announce regarding stand-alone availability of the console.
The Destiny 2 PS4 Pro bundle represented the first time that customers were able to buy a PS4 Pro in a color other than the original “Jet Black.” Sony refers to the wintry shade as “Glacier White.” The system comes with a 1 TB hard drive.
U. S. customers will be able to buy the white PS4 Pro “at the end of this month,” said Sony, for $399.99 exclusively at GameStop. In Canada, the console will be available exclusively at GameStop subsidiary EB Games for CA$499.99 “in the coming weeks.” In each case, that’s the same price as the standard PS4 Pro.
Sony also announced another special PS4 Pro today, this one coming in a game bundle. The company has teamed up with Capcom for a limited-edition PS4 Pro featuring artwork from Monster Hunter: World. Dubbed the Rathalos Edition, this package comes with a Monster Hunter-branded black PS4 containing a 1 TB hard drive, along with a crimson DualShock 4 controller that also sports Monster Hunter decals and a physical copy of the game.
The Rathalos Edition PS4 Pro bundle will be available in “very limited qualities” on Jan. 26, exclusively at GameStop, for $449.99. Monster Hunter: World itself launches the same day on PS4 and Xbox One; it is coming to Windows PC this fall.
