Xiaomi is reportedly working on a number of smartphones both budget and flagship – to launch this year. Reports reveal that the Chinese smartphone maker may launch a flagship phone called Mi 7 at MWC 2018, at the same time when Samsung will announce the Galaxy S9 and S9+. Now a new report making rounds on the internet hints at Redmi Note 5 launch ahead of Mi 7 announcement. This means that we may see the Redmi Note 5 go official next month.
Ahead of the official announcement, the upcoming Redmi Note 5 has been subjected to several leaks and rumours which suggest that the device may see major improvements in the design, camera, software as well as hardware departments compared to its predecessor and Xiaomi’s self-claimed “best selling” smartphone of 2017 — Redmi Note 4.
In another report — coming from China (spotted on MyDrivers website) the complete specs along with the pricing details of the Redmi Note 5 have been leaked. The report suggests that the smartphone may come with a 5.99-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Given that, Redmi Note 5 will be a much bigger device as compared to the Redmi Note 4 as the latter comes with a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution on 1080 x 1920 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio.

The upcoming Redmi Note 5 will be a powerful device. The leaked report suggests that the smartphone may come with a 2.0GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor with either 3GB or 4GB RAM memory. In contrary, the 3C certification last week suggested that Redmi Note 5 may actually come in two variants — one with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage while the second model may sport 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage.
Redmi Note 5 is expected to run on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top. A phone of 2018 running on Nougat may prove to be a disadvantage for Xiaomi, however, chances are that — if only the device is launched with Nougat – the company may upgrade it to Oreo very soon. The smartphone is said to be backed by a massive 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery. Interestingly, the new report also suggests that Redmi Note 5 may join the latest trend and come with facial recognition support onboard.
Coming to the camera department, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to come with dual camera set up at the back and single camera sensor on the front. The primary sensor of the rear camera could be around 16-megapixel, while the secondary sensor may be around 5-megapixel. On the front, the smartphone is expected to come with an 8-megapixel shooter.
As far as the price of the Redmi Note 5 is concerned, the device may be priced around 1,499 Yuan – which roughly translates around Rs 15,000. This is for the 3GB RAM model, while the 4GB RAM variant may cost around 1,799 Yuan which is roughly around Rs 18,050.
