It’s unclear where the convicted sexual predator will serve out the entirety of 60-year federal sentence.
Disgraced United States Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar is now in federal custody.
Eaton County correctional officers on Thursday handed over the former Michigan State University sports doctor to federal officials, the Lansing State Journal reported.
As of Friday morning, Nassar was being held at Milan Federal Correctional Institution. He’s one of nearly 1,400 inmates at the low-security prison, located about 10 miles south of Ann Arbor.
The convicted serial sexual predator will eventually be transferred to another facility, though it’s unclear where exactly Nassar will be permanently housed, said Matt Newburg, one of the ex-doctor’s attorneys.
The former United States Olympics physician in November pleaded guilty to a slew of federal and state charges as part of a plea agreement.
A judge in December sentenced Nassar to 60 years in federal prison on three counts of child porn possession. The following month, he was sentenced in Ingham County to 40 to 175 years behind bars. And a judge earlier this month handed him another 40 to 125-year sentence for sexual assault charges in Eaton County.
More than 200 women have come forward with allegations against the once-famed doctor, many of them detailing how he abused them under the guise of medical treatment.
Nassar, who is now 54, is slated to be released from federal prison in 2069 at the age of 105. Only then will he be allowed to start serving prison time on his state sentences.
