Responding to calls for solutions after the Parkland school massacre, Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott says “evil people” will either ignore bans or find other ways to kill anyway, and also blamed violent video games and the FBI.

Scott outlined a variety of considerations that he said he believes are more important to focus on than increasing gun control.

Scott wrapped up his editorial with a promotion for his department’s active shooter training and other seminars “to prepare for worst case scenarios.”
The vast majority of the comments on the post were supportive, including sentiments such as “Absolutely perfectly stated!” and “Very wise observations!”
Lee County, in southwest Florida on the Gulf Coast, includes Fort Myers and Cape Coral.
