Morris Paul Green was charged along with three others for the aggravated robbery of a Brenham convenience store on Nov. 11,2016. He was convicted Wednesday by the jury that sentenced him.
A Washington County jury Thursday sentenced a 47-year-old Houston man to life in prison for aggravated robbery and evading arrest with a vehicle, according to a press release from the 21st Judicial District.
Morris Paul Green was charged along with three others for the aggravated robbery of a Brenham convenience store Nov. 11,2016. He was convicted Wednesday by the jury that sentenced him. He was fined $10,000 on both charges. Due to Green’s extensive criminal history, including Louisiana convictions for armed robbery, he is considered a habitual felony offender. Green will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years, according to the news release.
During the robbery, Green and two others held the store clerk at gunpoint and ordered shop patrons to the ground. Green climbed over the counter, taking the cash drawer and a cash box holding around $30,000. Police pursued the suspects’ vehicle on a high-speed chase through three counties down Highway 290. Just past Hegar Road in Hockley, Green and three other men jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled into a field. Green was apprehended near a duffel bag containing the stolen cash, according to the press release.
The other three men involved in the robbery previously pleaded guilty and received prison sentences ranging from 10 to 29 years, the news release states.
