Ahead of MWC 2018, LG Electronics launches 2018 edition of its popular K8 and K10 series. The new LG K8 and K10 2018 models are enhanced versions of the previously announced models, especially on the camera front and also come with more premium features rivaling those of premium flagships. Both the K8 and K10 models come with a host of advanced camera features such as — high speed auto focus and noise reduction for better low-light photography. LG is yet to reveal the prices of the smartphones, which the company is expected to announce at MWC 21018 event to be held in Barcelona later this month.
LG brings three phones under the K10 series — K10+, K10 and K10 Alpha, while the K8 series brings only one model called the K8 2018 — which is an advanced version of the original K8. As of now, there are no pricing details of the phones available, however, the company says that both the K8 and K10 models will fall under the budget segment. With these new K Series devices, LG is looking forward to «deliver exceptional products to customers at exceptional prices.» Initially, both the K8 and K10 phones will be made available to select markets including — Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. We can expect the devices to hit the Indian shores in the months to come.
The K10 series comes packed with a metallic design coupled with a metal U-frame which make the handsets look pretty sleek in comparison to its predecessors. «The classy metallic design of the LG K10 with its metal U-frame not only looks sleek, but it is also packed with premium features not normally found in its price range,» notes the company.
Overall, all the three K10 series of phones — K10+, K10 and K10 Alpha come with the same in terms of specifications, apart from some slight changes in the RAM, storage and camera set up. While K10 and K10 Plus is equipped with 13MP rear camera, the third model K10 alpha packs an 8MP camera at the back panel. The camera technology in the K10 phones is similar to that of the one seen in the flagship LG G6 previously. On the front, the K10 series of phones are expected to sport either 8MP or 5PM sensor on the front coupled with Bokeh effect support. The rear camera of the K10 also include features like — Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) which will let users capture pictures almost 23 per cent faster than traditional auto focus.

All the three K10 phones — K10+, K10 and K10 Alpha come with a 5.3-inch HD In-cell Touch screen with 1280 x 720 or 1280 x 720 pixel resolutions. The devices are powered by 1.5 GHz Octa-Core processor, run on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and backed by 3,000mAh battery. The upcoming K10 models also come with a new feature called Smart Rear Key which not only unlocks the phone with a fingerprint but also triggers Quick Shutter for faster photos and Quick Capture for easy screenshots.
The K10+ come with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, K10 with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and lastly, K10a packs 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The storage can be further expandable up to 2TB via microSD. We may see K10+ come in Moroccan Blue or Terra Gold, K10 in Aurora Black or Moroccan Blue or Terra Gold, and lastly, the K10a may come with Aurora Black or Terra Gold.
The K8 2018 edition comes with more advanced camera UX features compared to the previously launched models. LG claims that they have worked on their low-light photography and has improved it in comparison with the previous generation K8.
In terms of specifications, the upcoming K8 phone comes with 5.0-inch HD On-cell Touch screen coupled with either 1280 x 720 or 1280 x 294 pixel resolution. The smartphone is powered by 1.3 GHz Quad-Core processor, run on Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS and backed by a removable 2,500mAh battery. On the camera front, the upcoming K8 2018 edition packs an 8MP camera at the back and 5MP sensor on the front. The smartphone also comes with several additional camera features like — Auto Shot, Gesture Shot, Flash for Selfie and Quick Share, Low Light Noise Reduction, Timer Helper, Flash Jump Shot. The device comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. Three colour options for the smartphone are expected for the K8 including — Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Terra Gold.
