A Maryland man has been arrested after police say he threw sulfuric acid on his female roommate’s face and upper body.
Bekre Abdela, 28, is facing charges including attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment, Prince George’s County Police said in a news release.
Officers responded to Abdela’s home in Hyattsville on Feb 24 to a report of a roommate dispute.
At the scene, deputies discovered the female victim suffering from what appeared to be chemical burns.
She was rushed to the hospital where she remains in critical condition, authorities say.
Investigators quickly determined the suspect to be Abdela, who had fled the scene by the time officers arrived at the home.
Two days later Abdela was apprehended by police.
Abdela admitted to attacking his roommate, police say.
