The upcoming Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact prototype smartphone’s alleged live image has been leaked online.
“The Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact is tipped to come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor”
Last month, Japanese tech giant Sony announced that it will be present at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona to introduce its new products. Reports indicate that the company will be unveiling the Xperia XZ Pro flagship at the event, which could come as its first smartphone to offer an 18:9 display. Some reports suggest that the vendor may also unveil the Xperia XZ2 Compact at the event. Ahead of the unveiling, an alleged live image of the Xperia XZ2 Compact has hit the interwebs. Leaked by a reader of Xperia Blog, the image is of the alleged Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact prototype model. The photo indicates that the phone will have a very different design as compared to the earlier Xperia smartphones. The prototype appears to have a curved back panel and rounded corners, which is very different than the squared corners and box-like design of the Xperia XZ1 Compact. Also, the XZ2 Compact has slimmer bezels on the top and bottom, which could be even slimmer in the final design.
The source suggests that the Xperia XZ2 Compact in the photo doesn’t feature a 3.5mm headphone jack. Also, the phone’s fingerprint sensor will be placed at the back, not on the side like its predecessor. The person who leaked the photo also mentions that the final design of the Xperia XZ2 Compact may look different than what we’re seeing here.
As for the specifications, if the reports are to be believed, the Xperia XZ2 Compact will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. The phone will come with 64GB of expandable storage. The camera features will allegedly include a 19MP dual camera setup at the rear and an 8MP selfie shooter. A 3,000mAh battery with fast charging is expected to power the device. It is also expected to run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
