Ubisoft has just announced earnings for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31,2017, informing everyone that their year was not only successful but brought a huge rise in their initial revenue targets. With 3 major titles released in the past months boosting the company’s sales, the success was inevitable. Furthermore, the company strongly believes that Assassin’s Creed: Origins will double Syndicate sales, just like what happened with their opening sales.
As the company informed, they succeeded in getting €725.0 million ($890.73 million) in revenue, getting 36% year-over-year and well above both the publisher’s original and revised revenue targets.
The games that made Ubisoft successful this quarter are Assassin’s Creed: Origins, South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. All titles were a huge boost for the company, however, the new Assassin’s Creed title is probably the biggest reason for it. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that Origins is on track to double lifetime revenues of its predecessor, 2015’s Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. He stated:
Assassin’s Creed: Origins is on its way to becoming the next most popular title for the franchise, opening more doors to future opportunities. For now, its season pass attach rate is a lot better than that of its predecessors, so that’s a good start.
Ubisoft also revealed that their “player recurring investment” revenues from digital item sales, DLC, season passes, and subscriptions are up 87.4% to €318.5 million ($391.31 million) over the first nine months of the publisher’s fiscal year, representing 26.7% of all revenue compared to 20.9% at the same point the year prior.
What do you think about Ubisoft’s success in sales this fiscal quarter? Do you think Assassin’s Creed: Origins Will Double Syndicate Sales?
