Why we won’t have a day-one review of Konami’s latest
Metal Gear Survive, the survival-focused spinoff of the Metal Gear Solid series, comes to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One this week on Tuesday, Feb. 20. But don’t expect a review of the game on launch day (or anytime soon), because while reviewers received code last week, the game was unplayable without a required software update.
Konami said in an email to reviewers last week that the game’s servers won’t be live until launch. That means the game hasn’t been available to play, as Metal Gear Survive requires a constant internet connection.
I’ll be playing Metal Gear Survive for review, and there’s no embargo on that review (which should be somewhat obvious, since reviewers will start playing the game around the same time the public gets access to it).
