Firefighters said a fryer caused a business to catch fire Saturday morning.
Crews said they found smoke coming from the Houston Calco Inc. warehouse near the area of Emancipation Avenue and Dallas Street, east of downtown.
The district chief said the company makes fried soy products and a fryer was left on. Firefighters extinguished the flames before the fire spread, but the business suffered smoke damage.
