LG’s upcoming flagship smartphone has reportedly been showcased in a private meeting at MWC 2018 in Barcelona.
“The upcoming LG flagship will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC”
At this year’s MWC in Barcelona, LG skipped the launch of its upcoming G series flagship. Instead, the company launched the LG V30S ThinQ with enhanced AI features at the event. The new phone comes as a special variant of the V30 (review), which was launched last year. In addition, the manufacturer has reportedly also privately showcased its upcoming flagship at the event as well. The Israeli news website YNet has posted a video of the purported LG G7 (Neo) flagship that was showcased privately at MWC. Furthermore, the reliable gadget tipster Evan Blass in a report on Venture Beat claims that the phone spotted in the video is indeed the upcoming LG flagship, which was leaked last month.
The LG flagship appears to be called the G7 (Neo). While several reports earlier had indicated that the next G series device will be called the LG G7, others suggest that the company may rebrand its next-gen flagship. The device seen in the video features a notch above the screen, and gets almost no bezels on the sides and slim bezels on the bottom. At the rear, the phone seems to offer a shiny glass or metal back panel.
The video of the upcoming LG flagship suggests that the phone will come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a dual primary camera setup. The source claims that the handset seen in the clip features a 6-inch OLED display with a massive pixel density of 900ppi. The phone will allegedly have a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels and will boast an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.
Further, the source claims that the upcoming LG flagship will feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There might also be a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model of the handset on the cards. Fueling the device will be a 3,000mAh battery. The camera department is expected to include dual 16MP shooters at the rear with OIS and an aperture ranging between f/1.6 and f/1.9, and an 8MP wide-angle selfie snapper.
The report also mentions that the upcoming LG flagship will offer DTS-X powered speakers, and offer Google’s AI-powered digital assistant. The latter will allegedly allow the camera to identify the subjects in the photos. More details on the device are expected to be available soon, so stay tuned.
