Huawei Nova 3e is the first smartphone to feature a 24MP f/2.0 Sony IMX578 selfie shooter. The all-new Sony sensor promises improved low light shooter, with markedly reduced image noise. Prices for the Huawei Nova 3e starts at 1,999 Yuan.
Huawei is the latest Chinese company to enter the “Notch” race, with its new mid-range offering called the Nova 3e. The all-new tri-bezel-less Huawei smartphone debuts soon after Vivo launched its X21 flagship in China yesterday. Lenovo too launched its first smartphone with an 18:9 display earlier today.
Ever since the launch of the Apple iPhone X, the rectangular notch in the uppermost part of the display has grown into fashion. Previously, a multitude of Chinese and European OEMs had launched phones with similar display implementation. Even firms like LG are planning to enter the race, with their upcoming premium smartphones. Therefore, it isn’t surprising to the see Huawei launch a mid-range smartphone with a such a striking similarity with a $999 Apple device.
Ergonomically, the Huawei Nova 3e has a lot in common with the upcoming Huawei P20 flagship. Apparently, it’s the Chinese specific version of the international Huawei P20 Lite. The mid-ranger sports a dual glass design with a vertical camera setup on the rear. The front of the device features a 5.8 inch 19:9 Full HD+ (2,280 x 1,080p) display with a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass. There are very minimal bezels surrounding the display on the three sides, except one which houses the Huawei branding.
The Huawei Nova 3e is powered by a Hi-Silicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor. This is apparently a chip of choice for both Huawei and its sub-brand Honor’s mid-range offerings. Besides, the Nova 3e comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage. The main talking point regarding the smartphone is its camera. It’s the first handset to come with a 24MP Sony IMX578 selfie shooter. The all-new Sony sensor promise improved low light selfie shooting capabilities, with markedly low image noise. The hardware is further back by a Huawei’s own beauty algorithms and an LCD smart light flash. The rear camera setup, on the other hand, comprises of a 16MP + 2MP dual sensor.
The fingerprint sensor is placed on the back of the smartphone along with a vertically placed Huawei branding to towards the left side of the rear panel. Internally, the Huawei Nova 3e features a 3,000mAH battery with 18W fast charging.
The Huawei Nova 3e is available in two storage variants, 4GB RAM/64GB ROM and 4GB RAM/128GB ROM. The base variant is priced at 1,999 Yuan (Rs 20,500/$315) whereas the top end model comes at 2,199 Yuan (Rs 22,650/$348). Pre-orders for the smartphone starts today, with the first sale commencing on March 27.
