Trump would be the first sitting U. S. president to meet with his North Korean counterpart.
President Donald Trump on Saturday predicted “tremendous success” for his plan to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“I think North Korea is going to go very well. I think we will have tremendous success,” Trump told reporters before departing the White House for a rally in Pennsylvania. “It’s going to be something very successful. We have a lot of support so I think North Korea is going to go very well.”
“The promise is they wouldn’t be shooting off missiles in the meantime, and they’re looking to de-nuke,” Trump added. “So that’d be great.”
South Korean officials announced Thursday that Kim had extended and Trump accepted an invitation to talks between the two countries.
