Trump is holding a meeting to discuss video games violence and real-life shooting with members of the gaming industry. The meeting invites Take-Two and Bethesda and many video game critics.
President Trump recently accused video games of trigging real-life violence and affecting minds of our young ones. However, how true it that? What evidence do we have to support that? For now, none! But Trump has still gone on to hold a meeting with members of the video game industry to discuss violence in video games.
Some notable members of the gaming industry are visiting Trump including Robert Altman, the CEO of ZeniMax, Strauss Zelnick, chief executive of Take-Tw0, Entertainment Software Association head Michael Gallagher. The meeting with also includes video game critics such as Vicky Hartzler, R-Mo., and Brent Bozell, founder of the Parents Television Council.
The meeting was announced after Trump’s comments on video games being one of the reasons why young minds are becoming violent. There are so many aspects of violence and while there is no evidence to suggest video games are one of them, Trump administration aims to regulate violent video games.
Some very interesting developments are expected from the meeting. Hopefully, none of the developments would take us on the road to GOVT regulation.
According to many studies, video games can relieve stress and may be helpful in treating schizophrenia. A recent study out of the University of York concluded that there is no link between video games and real-life violence.
However, politicians find video games an easy target and feel comfortable turning video games into their personal scapegoats.
