Xiaomi is expanding its TV offerings after launching its flagship 55-inch model last month in India. – Xiaomi to launch 32-inch and 43-inch Mi TV models in India on March 7
Xiaomi sells a lot of different products including smartphones, smart TV, accessories and even e-bikes through its own brand and partner brands in China. However, the company has mainly focused on selling smartphones and mobile accessories in India. Last month, the Chinese company launched the Mi TV 4 with a 55-inch 4K panel in India as it plans to expand its product offerings in one of the fastest growing economies around the world.
Xiaomi is now set to launch a cheaper range of televisions in India. The new Mi TV series will be officially launched via livestream at 3PM on Wednesday. The company is widely anticipated to introduce the 32-inch and 43-inch models of its Mi TV on March 7.
Ahead of the official announcement, a listing for the 43-inch Mi TV 4C has been spotted on Xiaomi’s India website. The listing reveals the television will be priced at Rs 27,999. This particular model is expected to be joined by a 32-inch model from the company’s Mi TV 4A series. The listing for that model was also spotted on the event page with a price of Rs 12,999.
There is a possibility that these listed prices are just placeholders for the web page under construction but if Xiaomi launches these TV models at this price then it will disrupt the television industry just like it did with smartphones. If Xiaomi launches new TV models at the prices spotted on its webpage then it will hurt companies like Micromax and Vu the most in India.
In terms of features, the 43-inch Mi TV 4C model features a 43-inch full-HD panel with 178-degree viewing angle, 60Hz refresh ratio and a dynamic response time of 6.5ms. The TV is powered by a quad-core Cortex A53 chipset clocked at up to 1.5GHz coupled with Mali-450 MP3 GPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. It supports WiFi, two USB 2.0 ports, three HDMI ports, Ethernet, AV and S/PDIF ports.
Xiaomi is particularly stressing on the message ‘Switch to Smart’ since all of its TV models run on the Android-based PatchWall UI. The UI basically turns the TV as well as streaming content into easily accessible tiles and relies on a single remote for operating all the input sources. The 32-inch Mi TV 4A model, on the other hand, also has similar configuration but offers a smaller 32-inch HD panel. The TV was launched at 1,099 Yuan (around Rs 11,000) in China and has the potential to make other TV brands vulnerable in the market.
Xiaomi recently opened an experience store in Chennai where it has started showcasing all of its products including its Segway-like Ninebot mini, a Roomba competitor and Windows-based laptops. Since its entry in 2014, Xiaomi has grown significantly and it makes more sense than ever to bring its other offerings to the market where its products are highly favored by consumers.
