Xiaomi ‘s ‘Desh ka smartphone’, Redmi 5A is now going to sell at its original price of Rs 5,999, the company has announced.

The new pricing is applicable across Mi.com, Flipkart, and the company’s offline Mi Home retail stores.

The Redmi 5A was launched in India in November in two storage variants of 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage and 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. While the former variant was launched at Rs 5,999, the higher variant comes at Rs 6,999.
The handset comes with a claimed battery life of 8 days courtesy the 3000mAh battery it packs. In terms of other specifications, the Redmi 5A has a sports a 5-inch HD display of 720x1280p resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box with MIUI 9 layer on the top.
For photography enthusiasts, the handset offers 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash and PDAF. On the front, there is a 5MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. In terms of connectivity, the device offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a micro-USB port.
The phone is available in Dark Grey, Rose Gold, and Gold colour variants.
The Indian smartphone market leader Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi 5 smartphone in India this week on March 14. The company teased the launch of this smartphone at an event held on March 7, where it launched its second television within a fortnight.
