LG is reportedly putting a dedicated AI button and a rear camera with f/1.5 aperture on its upcoming flagship G7.
LG seems to be beefing up its upcoming G7 flagship smartphone with top-of-the-line features. The company is reportedly also putting a dedicated AI button and a rear camera with f/1.5 aperture. According to a report from ETNews, the device will see the light of day in Seoul at the end of April and will be available in mid-May.
The AI button is said to be housed on the side of the smartphone, just like Samsung placed a dedicated Bixby button on its flagships. The new report also corroborates with the recent render of the G7 by Steve Hemmersoffer, that shows an extra button under the volume rockers.
Much like the Bixby button on Samsung smartphones, the button will allow G7 users to quickly launch the smart voice assistants such as Google Assistant and company’s proprietary Q Lens and Q Voice. LG has been in the center of AI development lately, so a dedicated AI button will make a lot of sense for the company. LG’s recently launched V30 ThinQ is also focused almost entirely on phone’s AI capabilities. It will be interesting to see if LG allows users to remap the button, unlike Samsung.
The ETNews also reports that the G7’s rear camera might have a f/1.5 aperture. This would bring the device in direct competition with the Galaxy S9 which has the widest aperture till data. The wide aperture allows more light to enter the camera and reach the sensor. However, the G7 will not have the dual aperture like Samsung Galaxy S9.
The report also corroborates with previous leaks such as an MLCD+ display that uses up to 35 percent less power than regular LCD displays. Additionally, the report suggests that the device will have 6GB of RAM and will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor with 64GB/128GB storage options.
Previous leaks have already tipped that the device will feature an iPhone X-like notch, but a leak suggests that the whole notch thing will be optional. The device has already made an appearance in several instances, where an iPhone X-like notch is evident.
Folks at TechRadar have reported that the notch would be optional. According to the video they reviewed, the feature can be switched off through the phone’s software setting, allowing them to hide it behind a virtual bezel.
