It will be the Lions’ first Monday night game at Ford Field since the team hosted the Giants to open the 2014 season.
The Detroit Lions will open the season on primetime, hosting the New York Jets for Monday Night Football on Sept. 10, according to multiple reports.
It was previously believed the Lions would open on the road because of an Ed Sheeran concert scheduled for Saturday, but the Monday night date with the Jets provides enough time for the home stadium to get the field back in place.
It will be the Lions’ first Monday night game at Ford Field since the team hosted the Giants to open the 2014 season. The Lions have played in five Monday night games the past three years, all on the road, including trips to New York and Green Bay last season.
The full NFL schedule will be released at 8 p.m. Thursday night.
