A 25-year-old man has been charged with causing a crash last June that killed two woman and injured 10.
A Royal Oak man has been charged Friday in connection with a crash on southbound Interstate 75 that killed two people and injured 10 others last June, authorities said.
Douglas Muller, 25, has been charged with two counts of reckless driving causing death, two counts of manslaughter, and two counts of moving violation causing death.
Muller allegedly caused the crash that killed Shelby Seyburn, 22, of Commerce Township and Sydney Zaleski, 23, of White Lake.
State Police responded to the crash about 11 a.m. June 3 and learned that a 2011 Ford Edge was headed southbound on I-75, in the center lane, at the same time a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee was in the left lane. The Grand Cherokee entered the center lane, striking the Edge. At that point, the driver of the Grand Cherokee lost control, and the Jeep spun out and rolled over, according to Detroit News reports.
The driver of the Edge then lost control and hit a 1999 Ford van, which spun out and hit a 2015 GMC Terrain. The Terrain then lost control and that vehicle rolled over as well.
At the end of the carnage, 10 people were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries and serious injuries.
The women who died were in the back of the Grand Cherokee that was struck as a result of a chain reaction crash caused by Muller’s reckless driving, the prosecutor’s office said.
Muller is expected to be arraigned after 11 a.m. Saturday in 34th District Court in Romulus.
