Suspect in Princeton shooting death apprehended

Police said Tuesday they have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting in a Princeton street a week ago.
Princeton, N. C. — Police said Tuesday they have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting in a Princeton street a week ago.
Marcus Anthony Currie, 26, of 292 Buck Dunn Road in Four Oaks, was taken into custody at his home by state and local authorities. He is charged with first-degree murder.
Michael Lorenzo Joyner, 34, of Columbia, S. C., was gunned down April 2 at the intersection of Elm and Second streets. Police said he was wearing body armor but had been shot in the head, hand and legs.
Police said Joyner’s brother was in an argument earlier that day with three people, and Joyner, an Army veteran who served multiple tours of duty overseas, drove up from Columbia to help his brother out.
Currie was released from prison in September after serving three years for being a habitual felon, possession of firearm by a felon, speeding to elude arrest and habitual misdemeanor assault.
