The Honor 10 is the newest phone from Huawei to make a grand debut in India. At least it will, today. It might just be a coincidence that it is launching a day prior to the launch of the OnePlus 6 and that it’s in the same pricing bracket, but we found it amusing. But the Honor 10 is quite a decent match for the OnePlus 6 because it features a pretty good processor, impressive camera specs, a nice display and beautiful design. The phone made its debut in China about a month ago and will go on sale for the rest of the world after the launch event in London. Read on to know the details.
The Honor 10 will be unveiled at 2 PM London time, today, on May 15th. The event, which the company is calling the ‘global launch’ even though the device debuted in China last month, will be live-streamed so anyone can watch it. So if you’re in India, you can tune in at around 6.30 PM local time, if you want to watch the event. We will be live blogging here so you can watch the highlights and live updates if you log on to our site.
This is the first phone from Huawei that features the notch, that was first seen on the iPhone and created a lot of drama for obstructing the display. Well, it definitely seems like the notch is here to stay as a bunch of smartphones released recently have the notch.
As mentioned before, we already know all about the device as it launched in China in April. Read on to know the India specific details for the Honor 10.
The Honor 10 will be sold exclusively via Flipkart thanks to a tie-up between the manufacturer and the e-commerce giant. Flipkart has already set up the page, which you can check out here, for the Honor 10. The page also states that pre-booking will begin at 00:00 hours. The page also includes the highlights of the Honor 10 like the colour scheme and the camera specs but avoids any mention of the official pricing. But going by the pricing of the View 10 and its price in China, we expect the device to cost approximately Rs. 35,000. As mentioned before, this is what we expect the OnePlus 6 to be priced at as well, so we’ll have to wait and watch how the fight between the two manufacturers goes.
So we know the Honor 10 is pretty awesome to look at. The way the colours transform between an electric blue and a shade of violet, depending on your viewing angle, is rather impressive. The phone is also available in a Black, Purple and Teal colour options, which are just as beautiful thanks to the glass back.
The Honor 10 has a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display that works on IPS LCD technology. It has an aspect ratio of 19:9 and comes with Gorilla Glass protection. The new smartphone is powered by the best processor that Huawei builds itself — the Kirin 970 SoC. The Honor 10 comes in three configurations: 4GB 64GB, 6GB 64GB, and 6GB 128GB. We’re not sure if all three will be launched in India, but we’re pretty sure if the company launches only one version, it will be the one with the highest specs. The phone will run Android Oreo via its EMUI fork, which is currently at version 8.0 itself.
The Honor 10 is equipped with a dual camera system on the rear — it has a 16MP lens working in tandem with a 24MP lens so you can take pictures with bokeh effects. The rear camera also allows you to shoot 4K videos at 30 frames per second. Honor has also been highlighting that there is a lot of AI behind the scene so you can expect some very remarkable pictures when you shoot with the Honor 10, apparently. We will reserve our opinions for when we get our hands on the device.
On the front is a massive 24MP snapper so you can rest assured you’ll get some crisp selfies. The phone comes with a Type-C connector, Bluetooth 4.2 and aptX for audio. The battery has a capacity of 3400mAh and features fast charging.
