Samsung Galaxy A6 Receiving May Security Update Ahead of India Launch

The Samsung Galaxy A6 sports an Infinity Display with a Super AMOLED panel and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
Samsung Galaxy A6, the South Korean giant’s mid-range offering that was unveiled globally earlier this month, is expected to make an appearance in India, alongside the Galaxy J4, Galaxy J6, and Galaxy A6+, as soon as May 21 at a launch event scheduled in New Delhi. According to certain reports, now, the smartphone is receiving the May 2018 security update ahead of an impending India launch.
As per a report by Sammobile, the latest Android security patch update with version number PDA A600GDXU1ARE2 and CSC A600GODM1ARE2 is now available for the yet-to-be-launched Samsung Galaxy A6. The update is based on top of Android 8.0.0 Oreo. The Galaxy A6 sports an Infinity Display with a Super AMOLED panel and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The mid-range smartphone also comes with features such as Dolby Atmos support, Samsung Pay, fingerprint sensor, and face recognition.
Even the Galaxy J4 and Galaxy J6 have been rumoured to be showcased in the country, with both budget smartphones sporting the same Infinity Display. If true, this will be the first instance wherein a handset from the Galaxy J series will sport Samsung’s proprietary Infinity Display last seen on its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, as well as Galaxy A8 series.
The Galaxy A6 sports a 5.6-inch HD+ (720×1480 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity Display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by an octa-core 1.6GHz SoC, coupled with 3GB/ 4GB of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB inbuilt storage. Storage is expandable up to 256GB (via microSD).
In terms of optics, the phone bears a single 16-megapixel autofocus rear camera with f/1.7 aperture. The Galaxy A6 also gets a 16-megapixel front sensor with an f/1.9 aperture. There is a 3000mAh battery under the hood.
Connectivity options include Cat 6 LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, USB Type-B, NFC, ANT+, and GPS. The smartphone has been priced at EUR 309 (roughly Rs. 24,800) although there is no official word on the Indian pricing.
