Amazon is also offering an additional discount of Rs 1,000 if two Echo speakers are bought together.
Amazon India has announced a price cut for its Echo and Echo Dot smart speakers in India. The Amazon Echo speaker is now available for Rs 8,999 instead of the original price of Rs 9,999. On the other hand, the most affordable Amazon smart speaker—Echo Dot—has received an 8% price cut on its actual price of Rs 4,499 and is now priced at Rs 4,099. There is no price cut on the Amazon Echo Spot and Echo Plus speakers and continue to cost Rs 12,999 and Rs 14,999 respectively.
Amazon is also offering an additional discount of Rs 1,000 if two Echo speakers are bought together. The discount is only applicable to Amazon Echo speakers in Black and Grey colours. There is no official word on whether the price cuts are applicable to Amazon speakers sold in retail stores as well. For those unaware, in February, Amazon had announced that its voice-controlled speakers — Echo Dot, Echo and Echo Plus — will be available at over 350 retail outlets including some of the big ones such as Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales and Crosswords among others, in 20 cities across India.
Amazon Echo is powered by Alexa digital assistant and performs activities such as checking weather, setting reminders, sports scores, shopping lists and more. It can even play music using streaming services such as Amazon Prime Music, Saavn and others. The digital assistant even controls the lights and switches when connected. It has a 7 microphone array along with buttons on top to control the volume and microphone. On the inside, there is a 2.5-inch woofer and a 16mm tweeter. On the other hand, the Amazon Echo Dot is a puck-shaped device that is powered by Alexa and can be controlled using voice commands. The Echo Dot connects to speakers using Bluetooth or via 3.5mm cable.
