Three months after launching the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India, the 6GB RAM variant of the smartphone will now be made available starting July 26, as per the latest announcement from Asus. Earlier, the device was launched only in the 3 and 4 GB RAM variants with 32 and 64 GB internal storage configurations respectively. While Asus had also announced the 6GB RAM variant, it wasn’t made available for purchase and was set to be unveiled at a later stage. The new variant will cost Rs. 14,999 and will sell exclusively on Flipkart just like its younger siblings.
The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC coupled with the Adreno 509 GPU and comes with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS Full View display, Android 8.1, expandable memory support, and a mammoth 5000mAh battery. This is what is common with the 3 and 4GB RAM configurations of the device.
What’s different is the RAM which is now 6GB to help you with better multitasking and to retain more apps in the memory, and also better cameras to the front as well as the rear. The rear camera has now been upgraded to a 16MP unit with f/2.0 aperture from the 13MP sensor on the 3/4GB RAM variants with an aperture of f/2.2. The front facing shooter has also received an upgrade to 16MP which is double the resolution compared to the 8MP lens on previous variants.
The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 has been a good smartphone which has provided a stock android experience along with great performance, thanks to the chipset and battery life that could easily last you more than a day, up to two days if used lightly or moderately. The only downside of the smartphone was its sub-par cameras, which hopefully gets better in this version. If you’re looking for a smartphone under Rs. 15,000, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 might now give the Redmi Note 5 Pro an even tougher competition, given that the Note 5 Pro was an undisputed winner in terms of camera at this price point.
