Facebook quietly sets up Chinese subsidiary

Facebook has quietly set up a subsidiary in China, as it attempts once again to penetrate the country following its 2009 ban.

A Facebook spokesman said the US giant was setting up an “innovation hub” in Zhejiang, eastern China, to allow it to “support Chinese developers, innovators and start ups”.
“We have done this in several parts of the world – France, Brazil, India, Korea – and our efforts would be focused on training and workshops that help these developers and entrepreneurs to innovate and grow,” the spokesman added.
