The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite was listed on a Polish e-commerce website earlier this month, suggesting that the Redmi 6 Pro could debut in global markets as an Android One smartphone. Ahead of Xiaomi’s global launch event in Madrid, Spain on July 24 th, the upcoming Mi A2 Lite has been listed online by Aliexpress.
Aliexpress has listed two memory variants of the Mi A2 Lite – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. While the 3GB RAM variant of the smartphone is listed at $189.99 (Rs.13,000 approx.), the 4GB RAM variant of the smartphone has been listed at $209.99 (Rs.14,400 approx.). The Aliexpress listing also confirms that the Mi A2 Lite will be identical to the Redmi 6 Pro in terms of key features and specifications. The software, however, will be very different.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will come with a 5.84-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution, a notch at the top, and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2 GHz with an Adreno 506 GPU. In the memory department, we expect the smartphone to be launched in two variants – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. For further expansion, the smartphone will include a dedicated microSD card slot.
In the camera department, the Mi A2 Lite will boast an impressive dual-camera setup with a 12MP Sony IMX486 primary sensor and a 5MP Samsung S5K5E8 secondary sensor. Thanks to the dual-camera setup, users will be able to capture photos with DSRL-like background blur using the AI Portrait Mode. The dual-camera setup on the back is expected to come with AI scene detection feature as well. For selfies and video calling, the Mi A2 Lite will come with a 5MP snapper on the front.
In the connectivity department, Mi A2 Lite will come with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and 4G VoLTE. Fueling the internals of the Android One smartphone will be a 4000mAh capacity battery. Some of the other key features of the Mi A2 Lite include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, AI Face Unlock, and an IR blaster.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is expected to make its debut at the company’s next big global event, which is set for July 24 th in Madrid, Spain. While the main attraction at the event will be the Mi A2, based on the Mi 6X, the Mi A2 Lite is likely to draw a lot of attention as well. Both smartphones are expected to be launched in India soon after the global event in Spain.
As for price, we can expect the Mi A2 Lite to be priced slightly above the Redmi Note 5 in India but below the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The smartphone’s base variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage will likely be priced at Rs.11,999, while the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant could be priced at Rs.13,999 in the country.
