A Robeson County man has been charged with murder after authorities said he fatally shot his nephew following a family gathering on Wednesday.
Red Springs, N. C. — A Robeson County man has been charged with murder after authorities said he fatally shot his nephew following a family gathering on Wednesday.
Authorities said Jonathan Lee Locklear was at a party on Sundance Drive when he got into a fight with his uncle, Ferman Locklear Jr.
Following the fight, Jonathan Locklear walked to a relative’s home at 672 Eaglefeather Drive and authorities said Ferman Locklear followed his nephew to the home, walked inside and shot him in the leg before leaving.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found Jonathan Locklear unresponsive on a bed at the home when they arrived. He was taken to McLeod Medical Center in Florence, S. C., where he died Thursday afternoon as a result of his injury.
Ferman Locklear was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was being held in the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
