The $200 Roku TV Wireless Stereo Speakers are stereo satellites that wirelessly pair with TVs that use the Roku TV interface, like the TCL 6-series and Element Roku TV.
Roku has a new speaker system designed for use with its Roku TVs, and it isn’t a soundbar. The Roku TV Wireless Stereo Speakers are stereo satellites that wirelessly pair with TVs that use the Roku TV interface, like the TCL 6-series and Element Roku TV.
The speakers are built on the Roku Connect wireless audio platform Roku revealed at CES. They are the first Roku Connect speakers to be released, but not the first ones announced; that credit goes to the TCL Alto soundbar, also announced at CES, though we don’t have a formal release date or pricing for that one.
The Roku TV Wireless Speakers only require power cables, and wirelessly connect to any Roku TV over Wi-Fi. Once paired, they can stream any audio from the connected TV. The speakers also support Bluetooth, so users can play music directly from their phone without using the Roku app or Roku TV interface.
The speakers include two remotes. One is a Roku TV voice remote that can replace the infrared-only remote included with some Roku TVs, allowing control without direct line of sight and enabling voice search through the remote instead of relying on the Roku app.
The other remote is the Roku Touch controller, a new puck-shaped remote designed for tabletop use. The Roku Touch remote has no navigation pad for working with Roku TV menus, but features dedicated audio input and playback buttons for controlling music through the speakers, without the TV.
The Roku TV Wireless Speakers will be available by year’s end for $199.99, but Roku is offering a pre-order discount. From today until July 23, get the speakers from Roku for $149.99; if you miss that window, they’ll be $179.99 between July 24 and October 15.
